What’s up, Seattle skaters! As we roll into the new year, the energy in our city is absolutely electric, and it’s all thanks to one thing: the massive return of roller derby! December was a huge month for the competitive scene, setting the stage for an incredible 2025. The action kicked off with the much-anticipated Rat City Roller Derby Season 19 Opener, a thrilling doubleheader that had us all on the edge of our seats. Not to be outdone, the Southside Roller Derby Season Opener also brought the heat, proving that our local derby community is stronger than ever.
Beyond the track, Southgate Roller Rink was the undeniable hub of the action. They hosted the incredible Make it Loud: Skating to Live Music event, letting skaters groove to the sounds of live bands, which is an experience every skater needs to have. And for those looking for a steady rhythm, the weekly Seatown Sundays kept the soulful R&B vibes going strong every weekend. While our app didn’t pick up any new spots or sessions this month, the city’s public calendar made it clear that Seattle’s skate scene is thriving and ready for an amazing year ahead!
