NYC April Skate Scene: Art Meets Wheels at Xanadu's Historic Dance Revival!
Get ready to roll into April, New York City! The energy in the five boroughs is absolutely electric, and it feels like the skate scene is hitting a new peak. The biggest news buzzing through the city is the incredible revival of a rare 1963 experimental dance, ‘Pelican,’ by Robert Rauschenberg, happening right at the Xanadu roller rink! It’s a stunning fusion of high art and our beloved eight-wheeled world that you won’t want to miss.
But that’s not all! While the art world takes notice, our own Let’s Roll community is making waves with an unbelievable lineup of grassroots events. We’re seeing huge meetups like the “Vinyl Nights Flower Power Disco” and the massive “Two-and-a-Half Year Group Anniversary” for beginners on Randall’s Island. It’s the perfect mix of culture and community, proving once again that NYC is the place to be on skates this spring.
From Art Revivals to Park Jams: Your Event Guide
Your calendar is about to be packed! The variety of events this month is simply staggering. On one end, you have the once-in-a-lifetime Rauschenberg dance revival at Xanadu, and on the other, you have our community-led celebrations like the “STONED ON WHEELS” skate. For those looking for a consistent roll, don’t forget about the awesome recurring events like Saturday Public Skating at Pier 2 and the weekly Empire Tuesday Night Skate. There’s truly something for every skater, every single week.
Meet the Movers and Shakers
The community is growing faster than ever! We spotted an incredible 15 active skaters on the app this past month, from ludo_lm to medusas_snatch. It’s so inspiring to see familiar faces and new rollers like sk8mafianyc and ale_skating_in_da_city lighting up the scene. Give them a follow on the app and connect at the next session!
You Reviewed: The Word on the Street
We love seeing your feedback, and this month you gave us a gem! A huge shoutout to the skater who left a 5-star review for The Zone, noting how amazingly smooth the surface is compared to other spots. This is exactly the kind of local knowledge that helps everyone find their perfect place to roll. Keep the reviews coming!

The Proof is in the Pavement: You're Rolling!
The streets and rinks are alive with activity! With 15 sessions logged on the Let’s Roll app this month, it’s clear that the NYC skate community isn’t just talking—you’re out there doing it. As the weather gets warmer, we can’t wait to see this number skyrocket. Log your skates and let’s show everyone how NYC rolls!
